Using Your Library
You must have a valid library card to check out materials. Acceptance of this card is your agreement
to comply with the rules and regulations of the library. A parent or guardian must sign for children under 14 years.
Proof of current address is required for all applicants when they register. Addresses are verified annually.
Library staff does check addresses on Sarpy County's property look-up program to verify that you live in Bellevue.
Please notify the library of any address change. If the Post Office returns a notice as undeliverable, all users at that address are blocked from check out until a correct address is verified. To avoid this, please notify us when you move.
Cards can be used until worn out, so do not discard them when they expire. A $1 replacement card fee will be charged at renewal for any that are discarded. There is a $1 fee to replace a lost card (applicable to residents and nonresidents).
Bellevue Residents:
There is no charge for a library card if you live inside the incorporated city limits of the city
of Bellevue.
Nonresident Active Duty Military:
There is no charge for a library card for active duty
military personnel (and dependents who live at the same address) who live in the metro area. Nonresident military must present military ID
for all applicants.
Nonresidents Who Own Property in Bellevue:
If you own property in Bellevue but do not live in the city,
you can apply for an annual card at no cost. Please
present proof of property ownership at registration and when
you renew the card. Staff verifies proof of ownership on Sarpy County's property lookup program for nonresident property owners at registration and renewals.
Nonresident Full-time City Employees:
If you work full-time for Bellevue but live outside the
city, you can apply for annual cards for yourself and your
family at no cost. The city employee must apply for
the cards and must present proof of employment.
Nonresidents:
There is an annual fee per household, if you live outside
the incorporated Bellevue city limits. This fee, based on the
estimated per capita tax paid by city residents, is reviewed
by the Library Board each year. The current fee is $40 per household.
Nonresident Students (Age 3 - Grade
12):
A nonresident student has the option of paying a reduced
annual fee for a student use card. The current fee is $10 per child. This card is for
use by the individual student who lives in Bellevue's
planning area only and cannot be used by
others in the family.
Group Cards:
Any licensed daycare center, group home, or senior care
center in the city limits of Bellevue may apply for a group
card at no charge. For specific requirements, please
request the library's policy on group card use.
