How to Obtain
a Library Card

You must have a valid library card to check out materials.  Acceptance of this card is your agreement to comply with the rules and regulations of the library.  A parent or guardian must sign for children under 14 years.

Proof of current address is required for all applicants when they register.  Please notify the library of any name or address change.  Addresses are verified annually.

 

Bellevue Residents:
There is no charge for a library card if you live in the city of Bellevue.

Nonresident Active Duty Military:
There is no charge for a library card for active duty military personnel who live in the area and their dependents. Nonresident military must present military ID for all applicants.

Nonresidents Who Own Property in Bellevue:
If you own property in Bellevue but do not live in the city, you can apply for an annual card at no cost.  Please present proof of property ownership at registration and when you renew the card.

Nonresident Teachers (Grades K-12):
If you teach in a public or private school within the city limits but are not a Bellevue resident, you can obtain a nonresident teacher's card at no cost.  This card is for the use of the applicant only and is limited to school needs.  It cannot be used by others in the applicant's family.  VHS tapes and DVDs cannot be checked out on a teacher's card.  All nonresident teacher's cards expire on Aug. 31.  Please present proof of employment when registering or renewing.

Nonresident Full-time City Employees:
If you work full-time for Bellevue but live outside the city, you can apply for annual cards for yourself and your family at no cost.  The city employee must apply for the cards and must present proof of employment.

Group Cards:
Any licensed daycare center, group home, or senior care center in the city limits of Bellevue may apply for a group card at no charge.  For specific requirements, please request the library's policy on group card use.

Nonresidents:
There is an annual fee per household, if you live outside the incorporated Bellevue city limits.  This fee, based on the estimated per capita tax paid by city residents, is reviewed by the Library Board each year.

Nonresident Students (Age 3 - Grade 12):
A nonresident student has the option of paying a reduced annual fee for a student use card.  This card is for use by the individual student only and cannot be used by others in the family.
